INDIGENOUS PEOPLES AND LOCAL COMMUNITIES

50% of funds are earmarked for direct disbursement to indigenous peoples and local communities—often through their own certified organizations—enabling self-determination that addresses both conservation and community needs, including women and youth empowerment.

The Cali Fund is designed to ensure that indigenous peoples and local communities are not only beneficiaries but recognized partners whose voices, priorities, and rights shape how the mechanism operates.

The Cali Fund supports the self identified needs of indigenous peoples and local communities, including women and youth within these communities, through government authorities or by direct payments through institutions identified by indigenous peoples and local communities.
